Groove’s upcoming upgrade of our Chrome Extension increases productivity and effectiveness everywhere your customer-facing teams work. This upgrade will improve your Groove experience by optimizing performance, speed, reliability along with several new features & enhancements:
Boosted Productivity: We've introduced quicker ways to find and insert your templates, a smoother scheduler integration, better reminder management, engagement heat levels at a glance, and more! This means you can get much more done in less time within your inbox and calendar. And in Salesforce, you have access to flows, actions, calls, and emails in all the pages you care about, right at your fingertips.
Streamlined Logging Controls: Logging emails and calendar events just got even easier. Whether you auto-log or manually log your activities, you'll benefit from an enhanced and cohesive experience for confirming records or quickly searching for new ones to attach. You'll also see additional status indicators so you know right away that your activities are logging correctly.
Improved Onboarding, Settings, and Troubleshooting: We've made onboarding smoother for new users, customizing it based on their roles. You can conveniently access important settings from the extension and quickly resolve any account issues.

The Release Plan
The rollout will start in stages, beginning the week of November 12th, and all customers will have the new extension by mid-December. The best part is that your users don't need to do anything to enjoy these improvements unless you're participating in the beta. If you have any questions or would like early access to the upgraded extension, please reach out to your dedicated Customer Success Manager.

Features being Sunset
With the new extension, we have enhanced many features, and we have also removed some features for a few different reasons. This section describes the features that are being sunset, and why.
Using Salesforce Templates in Gmail
Scheduled Send via Groove extension
Create Task via the extension popup
Log a Call/Note & Activities from Groove menu under compose
View Dashboards via the Extension
Using Salesforce Templates in Gmail
In the old extension, we give our users the ability to switch to their Salesforce templates when inserting templates into their Gmail compose window. However, this feature is no longer used widely within our customer base and within Salesforce directly. At this stage, the recommended approach to manage templates is within Groove directly:
Groove templates are more robust, supporting Salesforce merge fields, custom merge fields, as well as integrations with Vidyard and Highspot
Managing templates of all types (email, call, LinkedIn etc) within Groove keeps your content in the same place
Groove engagement data tracking on templates help you understand what messaging is working and what isn’t
Note: please have your admin reach out to Groove support if you'd like any Salesforce templates migrated to Groove.
Schedule Send via Groove Extension
We now integrate directly with Google’s own scheduled send option.. What that means is that if you schedule an email with Google’s Scheduled Send, and also apply Groove tracking and/or logging, Groove will track that email for opens and clicks when it does get sent out, and we’ll log to the records you selected when originally writing the email.
Create Task via the Extension Popup
We are sunsetting this feature for a few different reasons:
We now give users the ability to create & view their tasks directly in Omnibar
In Omnibar their admins can configure the fields that are relevant to their team’s tasks that they want to create
We are currently optimizing the “one-off” actions experience which will also be much more robust than arbitrary Salesforce tasks, as they’ll be connected to Groove templates, action types, Groove data, and SFDC data as well
